My Gear

    BASS

My main axe (my only axe) is a Japanese Ibanez SoundGear. I don't know which model it is. It's black with black hardware. I think it was originally bought in the USA, but some way it found its way to Denmark where I bought it in the spring of 1997. I later found out that the pickups were busted in some strange way and I've had to change them since. Either the guy I bought it from didn't know about this or (which is very likely) he fooled me. But now it's a great bass. Very versatile. I don't switch much between the two pick-ups. Sometimes I use a pick, sometimes I slap.
I also own an Ario Pro II which is the crappiest of basses, but it was O.K. for a beginner bass.

    PICK-UPS

I put Dimarzio model J and model P pick-ups in my bass and that is probably the best investment I have ever made towards improving my tone. The new pick-ups gave the old Ibanez an unbelieveable boost in sound quality and clarity. The Dimarzio's have also gotten very good reviews everywhere, and they are not expensive.

    STRINGS

I haven't really tried that many brands of strings, but I like trying out new kinds whenever I change them which is about every two months. The brand that I've had the best results with is "Ernie Ball". They are a little more expensive than other kinds, but they are just that better. Another brand that I like is "GHS Bass Boomers". They are nice and bright and they stay that way for a long time. They are also inexpensive, which means that I can change strings more often. No matter what, the best strings are the newest strings.

    CABLES

For over a year I've only used "Wrapper by Conquest". They have worked very well for me, but now I have bought "Cordial" cables with Neutric jacks. Neutric jacks seem to be what everybody else is using.
